Anchor Insurance & Surety is an Oregon-based, locally owned commercial property and casualty insurance broker, licensed in all 50 states.
Since 1985, we have serviced the commercial insurance and bonding needs of some of the region’s largest construction, timber, marine and heavy equipment operators in locations throughout the western states and beyond.

Meet Our Broker Team
Brent Olson is Vice President at Anchor and brings over three decades of experience in the insurance and surety industries. A 1988 graduate of the University of Oregon with degrees in Finance and Marketing, Brent began his career as a Surety Bond Underwriter. Over the following 16 years, he held various roles as an Underwriter and Bond Manager, building deep expertise in the field before joining Anchor in 2004.
At Anchor, Brent specializes in surety and insurance placements, with a focus on serving clients in the construction and real estate development sectors. He became a Principal in 2015, further solidifying his leadership role within the agency.
Brent has served as Regional Vice President of the National Association of Surety Bond Producers and is an active member of industry organizations including the AGC, ABC, NWUCA, and SWCA.
Chris Reburn is a Vice President at Anchor Insurance and Surety, Inc. Chris got his start in the insurance industry in 2001 as a Surety Bond Underwriter in Seattle, Washington. In 2007 he and is family relocated to Portland as a Bond Manager for Safeco Surety. With his prior surety underwriting experience, Chris is accomplished at helping contractors across a wide spectrum of disciplines and revenue volume with their bond programs. Chris joined Anchor in 2009 and enjoys working closely with his clients to provide them with the bonding roadmap to pursue larger projects of interest. He also is well versed in construction industry related best practices for risk management relative to all lines of insurance. Chris graduated from Sonoma State University in 1993 with a degree in Business Administration and is actively involved with many construction industry associations.
Joel Dietzman, an Oregon native, is Vice President at Anchor Insurance & Surety, Inc. in Portland, Oregon. He entered the industry after graduating from Washington & Lee University with a double major in mathematics and economics. He moved to the agency side of the business after working on the insurance company side for 7 years. Joel Dietzman has earned the following industry designations: CPCU, CRIS, AFSB, AIC, SCLA, and FCLA. Joel Dietzman currently serves on the board of the Northwest Utility Contractors Association and was Affiliate Member of the Year in 2014 and 2019; was Education Chair for the Portland Chapter of the Construction Financial Management Association and was Associate Member of the Year in 2013 and won the Founders Award in 2015; is a past President of the Surety Association of Oregon; has served on the local Associated General Contractors education committee; and is involved in numerous other construction industry associations including the Associated Builders and Contractors, American Society of Professional Estimators, Safe Build Alliance, Construction Safety Summit, Asphalt and Pavement Association of Oregon, and the National Association of Surety Bond Producers.
Pat Dooney is an Oregon native, as well as a Vice President at Anchor Insurance. Pat began his insurance career in 1998 when he joined Anchor, becoming a Principal in 2015. Pat graduated from Portland State University with a degree in English in 1992, and worked in construction material sales prior to joining the brokerage. Pat is an active member of the AGC and NWUCA.
Philip Forker is a Vice President of Anchor Insurance and Surety, Inc. His insurance and surety career spans 40 years since graduating from Fairfield University in 1978 with a BA. Phil started in the Manhattan H.O. of Seaboard Surety Company before joining Reliance in Eugene, Oregon in 1980. In 1981 he opened the Honolulu Hawaii office for Reliance and returned to run the Portland surety office from 1983 to 1988. Phil joined Anchor in 1994 and became a Principal in 1995. Phil has served on the board of The National Association of Surety Bond Producers and on their Government Affairs Committee.
Rick Kowalski is an Oregon native, as well as President at Anchor Insurance. After graduating from Willamette University in Economics/Econometrics and Math/Computer Science, Rick began his insurance career in late 80’s, first in the large broker segment including Fred S. James, Sedgwick, then VP of Marsh-McLennan, ultimately joining Anchor in 2000. Rick has professional designations including CPCU, AFSB and CRIS, and has always maintained a practice-area focus on heavy industry, especially construction risk, insurance and surety. Active in many industry associations, he was also a Past President of the Marion/Polk County Agents Association.
Andrew Choruby is a Producer at Anchor and brings over 18 years of experience to the insurance and surety industries. He began his insurance career in 2006 after graduating from Oregon State University, Go Beavs! Prior to joining Anchor, Andrew spent time working for a national insurance carrier and his family’s local agency. Joining Anchor in 2017, Andrew is focused on the construction and transportation industries. He is involved with industry associations including AGC, ABC, NWUCA, and OMSA.
Casey Geske is an Insurance and Bonding Specialist at Anchor Insurance & Surety Inc., with over 10 years of experience in the insurance industry. Since joining Anchor in 2015, Casey has focused on providing expert insurance and bonding solutions for businesses in construction, logging, and wood products industries. He specializes in surety bonds, risk management, and tailored insurance packages to meet the unique needs of these sectors. Casey holds a BS degree in Mathematics from Portland State and is licensed in Property & Casualty, Surety, and other insurance lines. He is also an active member of several industry associations, including the Northwest Underground Contractors Association, Associated General Contractors and Associated Oregon Loggers.
Drew Roddan joined Anchor as a producer in 2016. He started his insurance career in 2004 and spent over 7 years as a wholesale broker with Worldwide Facilities – a leading national surplus lines brokerage and Lloyds of London correspondent – focusing on hard-to-place risks in the construction, manufacturing, environmental, energy, and allied health industries. While at Anchor, Drew has earned the trust of numerous contractors, business owners, and consultants in Oregon and SW Washington, and takes great pride in being a risk management and insurance coverage specialist for his clients. Drew earned a BA from UCLA (go Bruins!) and holds the Insurance Institute of America’s Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designation.
Justin Cumnock has lived in Oregon and Washington for 20+ years and is a Producer at Anchor Insurance and Surety. He began his career at Liberty Mutual as a business insurance underwriting trainee in 2008; after 12 years, 4 promotions, and being named top 10% national underwriter of the year award, he decided to join Anchor as a Producer in 2020. Underwriting acumen was primarily with large construction outfits and logging/timber industries to name a few. Justin currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Association of General Contractors (AGC) and is involved with Workforce Committee to promote the trades to our next generation. He also is involved with Membership Committee and Education Committee with Southwest Washington Contractors Association (SWCA). Other associations with heavy involvement are Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors’ National Association (SMACNA), Asphalt Pavement Association of Oregon (APAO), and Northwest Utility Contractors Association (NWUCA).
Marc Brandeberry is an Account Executive with over 30 years of industry experience including 15 years at Anchor Insurance. Specializing in workers’ compensation insurance, Marc was an underwriter for two national insurance companies for 16 years before becoming a broker and working with clients to manage their workers’ compensation risks. Marc graduated from Oregon State University with a degree in Financial Services and also holds the Insurance Institute of America’s Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designations.
Rany Seth is an experienced workers’ compensation insurance specialist with over 25 years of experience, primarily serving the construction, timber, and marine industries. She excels at building strong business relationships and helping clients manage risks while controlling costs. Rany holds several professional certifications, including Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC), Certified Risk Manager (CRM), Commercial Lines Coverage Specialist (CLCS), Construction Risk and Insurance Specialist (CRIS), and Workers’ Compensation Claims Examiner Certification (Oregon).
